Worktech Melbourne was held at the beautiful Federation Square venue and attracted some of the most prominent thinkers and developers of workspace in Australia and beyond. One of the most striking things about Australian workspace design is how progressive and forward thinking the banking and insurance industry is. This was again highlighted at the conference with the excellent presentation from Medibank’s Kylie Bishop. Kylie showcased Medibank’s new workspace which was designed very much from the staff perspective and was part of a major culture change programme within the organisation.
Studio TILT introduced some of the emerging ideas from our Innovative Spaces research for NESTA which will complete in September 2015. Our main point emphasised the importance of a community first codesign approach to delivering effective innovation as opposed to concentrating too much on the fit-out of the space at the detriment of those that will use it. Our ideas certainly seemed to strike a chord with the audience and we look forward to returning to Australia soon to continue the conversation.
